Welcome to the Communications AFSC discussion blog. The purpose of this blog is to foster discussion between future Air Force officers interested in the Communications career field and current officers in the Communications. The views expressed in this blog are solely the opinions of the individual authors and not of the United States Air Force nor the Department of Defense.

What did your best day as a comm officer look like (so far)?
What about your worst day?
The day that I found out I could leave the career field to come teach at USAFA....I'm just kidding.
Actually, my best day and my worst day are probably the same day. I had worked a full day as a NOSC Crew Commander, but was still on call for the week. After getting home I got called back into work at about 1900 hrs because of some malicious activity on the network. Several hours and a lot of coffee later, as the morning crew was coming on duty, I was able to report that we had maintained operation and integrity of the network. Often times the job of a comm officer can be somewhat thankless (you get blamed when things break, but don't get praised when they're up and running). As a result, you have to sometimes find satisfaction in knowing that you've done your job well and, at a minimum, avoided the blame of the network going down. Non-comm folks may not always appreciate all that it takes to keep a network 'flying' so you have to sometimes find satisfaction internally.
